To exhaust leakage air from the upper rotary cell of a cellular wheel not including a bulk material without producing noises so much even though a rotary valve is actuated at high counter pressure.
This rotary valve carrying a bulk material to a gas carrying conduit and metering the bulk material is equipped with a housing having a supply opening and an exhausting port, and a cellular wheel 5 supported rotatively around a shaft substantially horizontal in the cavity of the housing 1. The cellular wheel 5 is rotated in a predetermined rotational direction so that a part of the cell thereof is moved upward and the other parts are moved downward. The housing 1 has at least one breather 10 ventilating cells moved upward, and the breather 10 is arranged in front of the supply opening when viewed in the rotational direction. The periphery of at least one breather 10 is arranged on the circumferential wall of the housing 1, and has a plurality of recessed parts 11 extended toward the cellular wheel 5 when the cellular wheel 5 is rotated in the rotational direction.
