To provide an innovative combustor of a rotary type comprising an annular rotor.
The combustor comprises a stationary structure and at least one annular rotor supported rotatably around a shaft 4 by a contactless suspension means. The rotor comprises first and second main annular portions which are interconnected by an intermediate annular portion, each of which is formed of a combustion chamber with a directed lateral opening for the ejection of combustion gas. Each combustion chamber has an injector and an igniter extending through a circular opening in the intermediate annular portion of the rotor. The injector and igniter extends through narrow circular slits formed between each main annular portion and intermediate portion of the rotor. The intermediate portion communicates with a region outside the rotor through a circularly extending radial exhaust nozzle which is narrow in the middle connected to the circular opening and having a cross-sectional shape of a De Laval nozzle.
