Abstract:

To provide a rack shaft supporting device by a rack guide bearing for preventing occurrence of abrasion or abnormal sound and aiming at durability improvement and stable operation of a support section, and to provide a rack-and-pinion power steering device having such a rack shaft supporting device.

The rack shaft supporting device in the rack-and-pinion power steering device supports a rack meshing with a pinion formed integrally in an output shaft rotated by steering with the rack guide bearing. One roller-type or slide-type rack guide bearing is arranged at the axially same position facing the pinion of the rack. One or a plurality of ones of roller-type rack guide bearings having a support rigidity smaller than that of the rack guide bearing, slide-type rack guide bearings, and flat springs are arranged at an interval on both sides of the rack guide bearing.
