Title:
PROTECTIVE OVERCOATING METHOD FOR PHOTOGRAPHIC ELEMENT USING MELTING BELT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000321739
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain an appropriate material for forming a protective overcoat on a photographic element and to form the protective overcoat.

This method consists of a step where a hydrophobic polymer coating is applied over a silver halide photosensitive emulsion layer and the step where the hydrophobic polymer coating is method into a photographic element over the silver halide photosensitive emulsion layer so as to form the objective protective overcoat. In order to melt the coating, the photographic element is sent through a nip formed between a roller 13 and a heated melting belt 14 with a resin prepared by curing a siloxane-containing compound. The siloxane has a bifunctional to terfunctional unit ratio of 1:1 to 1:2.7, at least 90% of the total number of the functional units of the siloxane are bifunctional and terfunctional units, the weight average molecular weight is 5,000-50,000 g/mol and the ratio between alkyl and aryl is 1:0.1 to 1:1.2.
