PURPOSE: To produce a valuable substance using an enzyme, economically, preventing the deterioration of filtration membrane without lowering the rate of filtration, by filtering an enzymatic reaction liquid with an ultrafiltration membrane interposing a specific strainer.
CONSTITUTION: An enzymatic reactor is charged with an aqueous medium (e.g. inorganic salt), a raw material (e.g. fumaric acid) (the step A). The content of the reactor is maintained at a specific temperature for a specific time to produce the valuable substance (the step B). A definite amount of the reaction liquid is transferred to the side of filtration residue in an ultrafiltration apparatus attached with an ultrafiltration membrane (e.g. nylon membrane) at a linear velocity of 5W20mm/sec using a serially connected multi-stage strainers having a specific mesh size and is separated into the filtrate and the filtration residue by the ultrafiltration membrane. The objective valuable substance is separated from the filtrate, and the filtration residue, an aqueous medium adjusted to a specific concentration and the above raw material are supplied to the enzymatic reactor (the step C). After the feeding step C, the production step B and the feeding step C are repeated.
