Abstract:
PURPOSE: To return and supply a sludge generated by direct reduction of iron ore as much as possible to a direct reduction process by combining the dehydrating of the sludge, the intimate mixing and granulating of quicklime to the sludge and supplying it to a meltdown gasifying zone in specific forms.
CONSTITUTION: The sludge separated during the time of scrubbing is first dehydrated to a residual moisture content before the further treatment of the sludge. Carbonic acid and the quicklime as a binder are then intimately mixed with the sludge. In succession, the sludge is subjected to a granulating treatment and the thus formed granular material is supplied to the meltdown gasifying zone while the basicity of slag is increased to max. 1.25, more preferably max. 1.20. More preferably the sludge and further the sludge having the residual moisture content of 25 to 50% before the treatment may be directly charged into a mixing and granulating machine. The quicklime is quantitatively effectively consumed in a preferable range of the residual moisture content. There is a need for consuming the quicklime considerably in a large amt. in order to obtain the sufficient strength of the granular material unless such dehydration is executed.
