Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a producing method of a pure gaseous hydrogen bromide and an apparatus by the direct combustion of bromine in hydrogen.
SOLUTION: Bromine is completely burned in hydrogen by homogeneously mixing hydrogen with a fuel under a pressure equal to or above the atmospheric pressure in a chamber, generating flame at the outlet of the chamber, replacing the whole or a part of the fuel with previously gasified bromine and controlling molar ratio H2/Br2 sufficient to keep stable flame at the outlet of the chamber and in the combustion region, the combustion gas is cooled in a cooling region and hydrogen bromide flow is recovered at ≤125°C at lest under the pressure of absolute 1 bar. The method is executed in the apparatus including a burner 1, a cooled combustion chamber 4 composed of an impregnated graphite and a cooling region 6 composed of a steel jacket, the inside of which is laminated with a block of the impregnated graphite.
