Abstract:
To provide a method for selectively producing hydrogenated cyclododecanol and isomerized cyclododecane by reacting an epoxy cyclododecane with hydrogen, while controlling formation of by-product hydrocarbons, e.g. cyclododecadiene, cyclododecene or cyclododecane formed by deoxygenation of the epoxy group.
This method reacts an epoxy cyclododecane with hydrogen in the presence of a nickel catalyst to produce cyclodecanol and cyclododecanone, wherein chlorine is introduced into the reaction system.
