To provide a poppet type valve seal mechanism causing no coming off of a seal member from a groove and no metal touch.
In this mechanism, the groove 15 attached with the seal member 17 thereto is formed in such a manner that a width of an opening part 15a thereof is smaller than a maximum width of an internal part thereof, that a cross section area of the groove 15 is smaller than that of the seal member 17, that a maximum width of a part of the seal member 17 contained in the groove 15 is larger than the width of the opening part of the groove, and that the width of the opening part 15a is constant over the entire periphery. Communicative holes 33, 34 for communicating the internal part with an external part of the groove 15 are provided at an internal wall forming the internal part of the groove.
