To obtain an oral composition excellent in low temperature stability, oral dispersion and feeling in use, and useful as a mouth-washing agent, a dentifrice gent, etc., by compounding a native gellan gum.
This composition is composed of a native gellan gum, i.e., a microorganism produced polysaccharide. A low viscosity liquid oral composition such as a mouth-washing agent, a high viscosity liquid, a pasty or a powdery oral composition such as a dentifrice composition can be produced by compounding the native gellan gum at 0.005-10wt.% of the total composition. The mouth-washing agent preferably has a viscosity of 1-500Pas at 25°C and the compounding ratio of 0.05-0.6wt.% of the native gellan gum, and the dentifrice composition preferably has the compounding ratio of the native gellan gum of 0.05-3wt.%. Thus obtained mouth-washing composition can hold homogeneous stability in low-temperature storage, and has no stickiness and foreign taste. The obtained dentifrice composition is good in oral dispersion, little in stickiness, excellent in rinse after teeth brushing and god in shape-retainability on a toothbrush.
