To provide an internal combustion engine having a cylindrical external housing 12 having a cylindrical cylinder for forming an output cylinder arranged in an annular shape.
A cylinder has opposed intake and exhaust pistons 38 and 40. The intake and exhaust pistons use an air bearing as a lubricant instead of conventional oil. The intake and exhaust pistons transmit outputs to rotary cams 46 and 48 arranged at opposed ends of the internal combustion engine. A cam following system is arranged in the pistons. The rotary cams are connected to an output takeout shaft 14 for operations. A four-bar link device 172 is connected to piston rods 56 and 58 for minimizing a piston side surface load. A jumper 84 is connected to the end of an output cylinder, and pressurizes air sucked in the internal combustion engine for scavenging the cylinder after combustion, and indirectly heats air in a combustion stroke in order to improve heat efficiency.
