Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new Saccharothrix strain which can produce pravastatin from compactin in a high yield with high conversion efficiency and at a low epipravastatin rate, and to provide an isolation method by which an (HMG)-CoA reductase inhibitor can be obtained in a high yield with high purity and at a low cost.
SOLUTION: Two new Saccharothrix microorganism strains are called YS-44442 and YS-45494. The method for producing the pravastatin with the strains is provided. An improved method for isolating the (HMG)-CoA reductase inhibitor is also provided.
