PURPOSE: To provide the subject new microorganism which can be artificially cultured to mass-produce a conidiospore useful as a weed-killer exhibiting excellent herbicidal effect against Deccan grass, harmless to crops and safe to environment.
CONSTITUTION: The objective new microbial strain is free from pathogenicity to cultivation plants, exhibits pathogenicity to plant of genus Echinochloa, produces conidiospore by liquid culture and belongs to Drechslera monoceras MH-1889 (FERM P-11992). The microorganism can be produced by sterilizing the surface of the blight spot tissue of a spontaneously attacked Deccan grass, washing the tissue, culturing on a non-nutrient agar medium by standing culture, separating the tip of grown mycelium into single mycelium by the aid of a stereoscopic microscope and culturing the mycelium on a nutrient medium by pure culture.
