Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a compass which can draw a circle with a desired radius freely by engaging a lateral slit with a fixture on a pivot, then fitting a sliding element in an area between a vertical slit in a first leg and a slit in the gyrating support shaft as well as an area between a slit in a second leg and a slit in the gyrating support shaft, and connecting each sliding element with a connection rod.
CONSTITUTION: A lateral slit 12 in a leg rod 10 is engaged with a fixture 24 on a gyrating support shaft 27. In addition, a common sliding element 3 is inserted in a vertical slit 13 in an arm rod 11 of a first leg 16 and a slit 25 in the gyrating support shaft 27 to engage the first leg 16 with the gyrating support shaft 27. In the same way, a common sliding element 33 is inserted into a slit 17 in a second leg 22 and a slit 25 in the gyrating support shaft 27 to engage the second leg with the gyrating support shaft 27. Further, the same connection rod 34 as a connection rod 18 is fitted into both sliding elements 32, 33. Thus a distance between a picturing needle and the tip of a writing instrument is allowed to match with a desired radius, and a radius desired can be drawn with the gyrating support shaft and the writing instrument left upright on the surface of a sheet merely by clamping the fixture.
