To provide an MR fluid brake device which can accurately regulate a magnitude of a clearance between a rotating disc and a stationary disc in an axial direction without causing a rise of a manufacturing cost.SOLUTION: Stationary-side engagement parts 13 arranged in a plurality of points in a circumferential direction, and composed of a plurality of stationary-side engagement recesses 14a and 14b which are recessed in an axial direction are provided at an engagement member 16 constituting a stationary member of an MR fluid brake device. Also, rotation-side engagement parts 26 arranged in a plurality of points in the circumferential direction, and composed of a plurality of rotation-side engagement recesses 27c which are recessed in the axial direction are provided at a rotating member main body 28 constituting the rotation member. The stationary-side engagement parts 13 are made to possess the stationary-side engagement recesses 14a and 14b which are different in depths in the axial direction by the number of pieces of stationary discs 5, and the rotation-side engagement parts 26 are made to possess the rotation-side engagement recesses 27c which are different in depths in the axial direction by the number of pieces of rotating discs 6.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 21
