Abstract:

To provide a molten metal container capable of restraining the generation of cracks in a refractory molding thereof and reducing the loss of the refractory and a method of manufacturing the same.

The molten metal container is composed of an monolithic refractory and an iron shell, wherein the former has slits arranged in one or more layers with regard to the thickness direction thereof partially or all over the same, which slits form linear or curved sided polygons, bent lines or two or more kinds of straight or curved lines different from one another in direction.
