Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a valuable substance by using a microorganism having improved NADH supplying potential.

A microorganism having no or lowered deoxycytidine triphosphate deaminase activity compared with wild-type strain and producing an enzyme using NADH as a coenzyme is cultured in the presence of a substance acting as a substrate of the enzyme to accumulate a substance produced by reducing the substrate substance in the cultured product by the enzyme and the produced substance is separated from the cultured product. The invention further provides a method for producing the substance comprising the use of the cultured product or treated cultured product of the microorganism as an enzyme source, reducing a substrate of the enzyme with the enzyme in an aqueous medium containing the enzyme source, a sugar and the substrate of the enzyme and separating the produced substance accumulated in the aqueous medium.
