Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for comparatively easily quenching an article only by controlling a uniaxial feed.
SOLUTION: This quenching method comprises setting a focal position F of the laser beam L so that a cam nose part Cn which is an object of quenching treatment of a cam lobe C can be positioned in an in-focus side than the focal position F; irradiating the cam nose part Cn with a laser beam L which has a flat rectangular shape parallel to an axis line of the cam lobe C; setting the cam lobe C as a fixed side, and a laser oscillator R as a movable side; and moving the laser beam L in a vertical direction A to each of the irradiation axis line of the laser beam and the axis line of the cam lobe C.
