Abstract:
To provide a method using electrolysis for processing liquid water waste containing radioactive fission products (alkali solution containing organic matter, but not limited).
Radioactive waste liquid flow 12 has high pH and contains wide variety of fission products and organic mater acting as complex. Firstly by oxidizing with electrolysis the organic matter at stable anode 26 as a positive electrode and secondly by reducing with electrolysis technetium and/or ruthenium at a porous and fluid penetrable cathode 42, technetium and/or ruthenium is removed. The cathode 42 is made of lead cotton, for example.
