To provide a method of manufacturing a polycarbonate-based flame retardant resin composition flame retarded with an organophosphorus compound, excellent in flame retardance and mechanical property, and capable of high speed production and a continuous stability for a long time by using an extruder.
This method of manufacturing by using an extruder a polycarbonate-based flame retardant resin composition is characterized in that (1) an aqueous dispersion of a fluoropolymer is fed continuously, without mixing with a raw material resin beforehand, into a zone of the extruder where the raw material resin is not substantially melted, at a feed speed of 0.01-10 wt.% based on the feed speed of the raw material resin into the extruder, (2) organophosphorus compound is fed continuously into a zone of the extruder where the raw material resin is in an incomplete melting state, at a feed speed of 1-30 wt.% based on the feed speed of the raw material resin into the extruder, (3) the specific energy is in a range of 0.13-0.20 kW.Hr/kg, and (4) the melt kneading is performed under a condition where the temperature of melted resin is 300°C or less.
