To provide a method and a facility with excellent safety, compact construction, and good heat efficiency for gasifying and combusting solid waste in which operation is easy.
A solid waste is combusted at 450 to 650 °C in a fluidized bed layer of a fluidized bed gasifying furnace, and is then combusted at 1200 to 1500 °C in a later stage melting combustion furnace whereby an ash fraction is melted into slag. The amount of oxygen in the gas supplied to the fluidized bed layer is 10 to 30% of the theoretical combustion amount of oxygen. A turning motion of the fluid medium is generated such that a fluid medium is lowered in the slow fluidized bed layer in the center of the furnace bottom while being fluidized, that the fluid medium is raised in the active fluidized bed layer in the periphery of the furnace bottom while being fluidized, that the fluid medium moves from the center part to the peripheral part in the lower part of the fluidized bed layer and from the peripheral part to the center part in the upper part of the fluidized bed layer while being fluidized, and that the fluid medium moves from the center part to the peripheral part in the lower part of the fluidized bed layer while being fluidized.
