Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for decomposing a fluorine-containing organic compound which efficiently decomposes a fluorine-containing organic compound and in which corrosion of a reaction vessel is suppressed, and little metal (excluding alkali metals and alkaline earth metals) mixes into a fluorine-containing low molecular weight compound obtained.SOLUTION: The method for decomposing a fluorine-containing organic compound comprises decomposing a fluorine-containing organic compound by bringing it into contact with sub-critical water in a reaction vessel. In the method, the molar amount of molecular oxygen existing in the reaction vessel, including molecular oxygen being consumed in decomposition of the fluorine-containing organic compound is equal to or greater than the molar number of carbon atoms contained in the fluorine-containing organic compound, metal elements (excluding alkali metal elements and alkaline earth metal elements) substantially do not exist in the sub-critical water, and the temperature in the reaction vessel is at least 250°C and less than 374.15°C.
