Abstract:

To provide a device and a method for controlling a fluid dispensing flow rate by a small number of calibration procedures.

A fluid dispensing controller 22 controls fluid dispensed to a workpiece 38 via a nozzle 36 by a throttle valve 30. An initial value of a fluid flow characteristic related to a relationship between a fluid flow rate and a nozzle pressure is determined. In compliance with the initial value and a desired flow rate value, a flow rate model of fluid flowing through the nozzle 36 is evaluated, and consequently, a desired nozzle pressure value is periodically determined. Subsequently, the controller gives a command signal as a pressure function of a desire nozzle pressure to the throttle valve 30. As a measurement volume function of fluid dispensed during a dispensing cycle to a measurement nozzle pressure, a new value for the flow characteristic is determined. Using the newest value, the flow rate model for the fluid passing through the nozzle 36 is evaluated again, a desired nozzle pressure is generated, and dispensing flow rate control process is repeated.
