Title:
METABOLIC ENGINEERING OF XYLOSE FERMENTING EUKARYOTIC CELL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2013055948
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide eukaryotic host cells, such as fungal host cells, that are transformed with an XI gene that confers the ability to grow on xylose and which host cells have specific rates of xylose consumption and/or product (ethanol) formation that are compatible with commercial application of the host cells.

The host cell of yeasts or filamentous fungi transformed with a nucleic acid construct comprising a nucleotide sequence encoding a xylose isomerase comprising an amino acid sequence that has at least 85% sequence identity with a specific amino acid sequence. The ability of directly isomerizing xylose to xylulose is conferred to the host cell immediately after the transformation of the host cell with a nucleic acid construct.
