PURPOSE: To provide a passive liquefaction apparatus which allows rapid exchanging of products while utilizing an existing vessel and allows changing of an operation nod between a continuous liquefaction operation and a batch liquefaction operation.
CONSTITUTION: This apparatus is constituted to be used within a kettle 12 formed of a heatable wall 15 and a drain surface. The apparatus includes an insert 10 which may be arranged within the kettle 12. The insert 10 has an outside surface 16 and a pad 36 mounted to this outside surface 16. When the insert 10 is arranged within the kettle 12, its outside surface is parted from the heatable wall 15 and the drain surface by the pad 36 and a gap G is formed. Solid material is packed into the kettle 12 installed with the insert 10. When the heatable wall is heated, the solid material is melted and flows out of the gap to the drain surface.
