To obtain a material for color filter red which is high in polarized light transmittance and saturation, has excellent heat resistance and allows the formation of patterns without using an org. solvent by incorporating specific repeating units therein.
The material for color filter red having the repeating units expressed by formula I is used. In the formula I, A denotes any of formula II, etc.; B denotes any formula III, etc.,; Z denotes any of formula IV, etc.; (m), (n) are m:n=10:90 to 90:10 and denote the integers which may be expressed by m+n=50 to 1000. In the formula II, X1 denotes -(CF3)2 or =0. In the formula III, X2 denotes -OH, -COOH or -CH2COOH. In the formula IV, (Y) denotes -NO2 or -Cl. Then, the high polarized light transmittance and saturation and the excellent heat resistance are obtd. In addition, the pattern formation without using the org. solvent is possible. There is no need for freshly installing the waste water treatment equipment for the org. solvent, the equipment for handling the org. solvent, etc., and the need for the running cost of the equipment described above is eliminated.
