PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably levitate a disc type impeller magnetically by applying the constitution that two radial shafts of the disc type impeller are controlled with a non-control type bearing, while the radial shafts in an axial direction being actively controlled with a control type bearing, and a positional sensor is used to control the specified number of electromagnets equally arranged along a circumference for forming the control type bearing.
SOLUTION: A magnetic levitation blood pump 1 is equipped with an impeller 3 including a nonmagnetic member 5 with a permanent magnet 4 for forming a non-control type magnetic bearing, as well as a soft iron member 6 corresponding to the rotor of a control type magnetic bearing, and a rotor 7 with a permanent magnet 8 rotated on the operation of a motor 9 is laid so as to be faced to the side of the impeller 3 where the permanent magnet 4 is fitted. Also, an electromagnet 10 is provided, so as to keep the impeller 3 at the center of a casing 3. In this case, three coils M1 to M3 are arranged as the electromagnet 10, and positional sensors S1 to S3 are arranged between respective coils M1 to M3. Then, impeller displacement is found, and each of the coils M1 to M3 is feedback controlled, thereby controlling the impeller 3 for the magnetic levitation thereof.
