Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a back-up bearing for a magnetic bearing operating when a magnetic bearing device for supporting a rotation shaft against radially acting force and axially acting force, in particular, a magnetic bearing cannot appropriately support the rotation shaft against the force.
CONSTITUTION: In the magnetic bearing device for a rotating shaft 11 including electromagnetic journal bearings 20, 21 and electromagnetic thrust bearings 22, 23, a back-up bearing is provided as hydraulic journal bearings 50, 51 and thrust bearings 52, 53. A static pressure bearing is urged by a control means 63 responsive to a detection when it is detected that the magnetic bearing cannot support a shaft in any specific direction in a predetermining movement range. Fluid is supplied at a pressure to support the shaft on a fluid film at all speeds to rest. The fluid is preferably a gas.
