Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a locker arm, by which the locker arm can be made lightweight, a sufficiently deep valve stem guide groove can be simply formed with high precision and the locker arm can be efficiently manufactured.
SOLUTION: This invention is the manufacturing method for the locker arm by press forming. First of all, an intermediate product 20C is obtained, which is equipped with a pair of both side walls 22 and a valve stem abutting wall 30 connecting the space of one tip part in the longitudinal direction of both side walls 22 respectively. Next, the valve stem abutting wall 30 of an intermediate product 3C is compressed and formed in the direction to shorten the width of the abutting wall by pressing it to increase the thickness of the abutting wall 30. And, the valve stem guide groove 40 is formed on the bottom surface side of the valve stem abutting wall 30 having the increased thickness by driving a press punch for grooving.
