Abstract:
To provide a lithium secondary battery with large capacity equipped with an inner pressure releasing mechanism capable of exerting a sufficient inner pressure releasing function even during high-rate charging.
The lithium secondary battery 1 is provided with a flat battery container 10 with a thickness T of less than 12 mm, of which a battery capacity C at a discharge rate of 1C is 5Ah or higher and a high-rate discharge capacity CHat a discharge rate of 5C is not less than 80% of the capacity C. The battery is provided with the inner pressure releasing mechanism 16 operating when the inner pressure of the container 10 is increased, designed so as to form a through-hole having an opening area corresponding to not less than 3% of the area of a bottom face 122, arranged on a bottom container 12 which is a wide-width plane at one side of the battery container 10.
