To use a light source as a lighting system without any problem even if a part of light emitting diodes breaks down when the multiple light emitting diodes are used for the light source.
This LED lighting system is structurally provided with: a light emitting diode line 20a composed by serially connecting a plurality of light emitting diodes 20; and abnormal-time short circuit elements 10 which are connected in parallel with the respective light emitting diodes in the light emitting diode line. When any one of the light emitting diodes breaks down, a high voltage relative to that in normal time is resultantly applied to the abnormal-time short circuit element connected in parallel with the light emitting diode having broken down, whereby the abnormal-time short circuit element is short-circuited by the high voltage, drive power from a power circuit 30 is applied to the other light emitting diodes serially connected to it, and the light emitting diodes other than the light emitting diode having broken down continuously emit light.
