PURPOSE: To obtain the subject leather excellent in softness, air permeability and waterproofing properties and more excellent than a natural leather by sandwiching an intermediate fabric between a surface synthetic leather and a basal natural leather consisting of an animal leather, heating and pressing the above-piled up materials so that they may be laminated and united into one body.

CONSTITUTION: A fabric such as a woven fabric or a nonwoven fabric is bonded to the back of a surface leather preferably consisting of a polyurethane synthetic leather, having an animal surface leather-like pattern and having air-permeable pores into one body. One side surface of a basal natural leather is then abraded smoothly and an adhesive is subsequently applied to either the above-mentioned fabric surface or the abraded surface of the basal natural leather. The fabric and the basal natural leather are put in layers and mutually bonded by contact bonding at 80°C and 100-500g/cm2, thus obtaining the objective leather having touch, visual appearance and strength as excellent as in a natural leather at a low cost.
