PURPOSE: To obtain the subject knopped cotton excellent in development of moire patterns without any falling off thereof in forming into spun yarn by eccentrically joining a specific polyester to polyethylene terephthalate and forming plural conjugate fiber staples of crimped parts having knopped parts and noncrimped parts.
CONSTITUTION: The objective knopped cotton obtained by spinning (A) a polyester consisting essentially of ethylene terephthalate units containing 1.5-6mol% constituent units having a metal sulfonate and (B) polyethylene terephthalate preferably of a side-by-side type at 1:1 discharge ratio into conjugate fiber and subjecting the resultant fiber to relaxing heat treatment and composed of knopped parts with 1-5mm diameter of mutually entangled crimped parts (having crimps of ≥10 peaks/25mm) and plural tail parts with 5-30mm length of noncrimped parts.
