To prevent the occurrence of scratch or wear in a boot for a joint which covers and protects the joint section between a constant-velocity joint and a shaft member.
In the joint boot 18 for a joint, the distance between the end face of a large-diameter cylindrical part 28 to the foot of a first valley 34 is set shorter than the distance D2 from the end face of an outer member 16 to the end face of the large-diameter cylindrical part 28 when an annular projection part 24 is engaged with an annular groove 26. When the large-diameter cylindrical part 28 is elongated by being bound tight by a metallic band 56, a distance D3 from the end face of the stretched large-diameter can part 28 to the foot of the first valley 34 becomes equal to the distance D2. In accordance with the above, the vertical wall from the foot of the first valley 34 to the top part is brought into contact with the end face so as to cover the end face from the side where the annular groove 26 is formed in the outer member 16. That is, the vertical wall sticks fast to the end face of the outer member 16 in the state that a pressing force is imparted all the time to the end face of the outer member 16.
