To provide a joining method for a rod collar by which a separate collar can be easily and surely joined to a rod by plastic forming without welding, and a joining die.
The joining method for the rod collar is constituted as follows. The rod 4 having an annular groove 21 formed beforehand is fixed to a receiving die 26 and a rough collar stock 23 is fitted and inserted to the rod 4 (the first process). Next, a die 25 is advanced to the receiving die 26 side along the rod 4. The rough collar stock 23 is pushed into a forming recessed part 27. The inner diameter side of the rough collar stock 23 is subjected to the plastic flow into the annular groove 21 by the swaging (the second process). Then, an annular protrusion 29 provided on the bottom face of the forming recessed part 27 is made to bite into the end face of the rough collar stock 23 by the further advancement of the die 25. The rough collar stock 23 is further subjected to the plastic flow into the annular groove 21. The material is filled up inside the annular groove 21 (the third process).
