Abstract:

To provide an intrapulmonary aerosolizer which can be bent at an angle and radius similar to the flexible distal end of a bronchoscope without exceeding the elastic limit of the aerosolizer or giving unreasonable strain to the flexible mechanism of the bronchoscope.

This intrapulmonary aerosolizer can be positioned in close proximity to the lungs by being inserted into the trachea directly or into an endotracheal tube or bronchoscope positioned within the trachea, and is equipped with a sleeve member 12 suitable for receiving a liquid substance, an insert 16 which is received in the sleeve member and has a spiral passage 27 set so as to surround the outer surface, an insert retaining means 22 between the surface of an inner sleeve and the insert, an aerosolizer body 20 with a hole part 14 received in the sleeve member, and an aerosolizer body-retaining means between the surface of the inner sleeve and the aerosolizer body. The intrapulmonary aerosolizer is constituted so that a liquid substance is sprayed from the hole part of the aerosolizer body.
