Abstract:
To improve thermal efficiency in an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine comprises: a cylinder block 2 comprising a cylinder 6 accepting a piston 17, and a cooling water passage 30 provided radially outside the cylinder; a heat conducting anisotropic member 37 or 51 provided on a wall surface 4 forming the cylinder or a wall surface 32 of the cooling passage on the side of the cylinder, and in which heat conductivity in an axial direction of the cylinder is higher than heat conductivity in a radial direction of the cylinder; and a heat insulating member 38 or 52 provided on an outside surface of the heat conducting anisotropic member in the radial direction of the cylinder.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
