Abstract:
To provide a cylinder for an internal combustion engine capable of reducing friction average effective pressure without performing complicated processing and a manufacturing method for the cylinder for the internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: In a cylinder for an internal combustion engine, a piston is vertically moved to slide on an inner wall surface. The inner wall surface is formed to define an upper region that is a region from an upper end of the inner wall surface to a lower surface position of a ring groove of a piston ring at the lowest position when the piston is located at a top dead center, a stroke central region that is a region from the lower surface position of the ring groove of the piston ring at the lowest position when the piston is located at the top dead center on the inner wall surface to an upper surface position of the ring groove of the piston ring at the uppermost position when the piston is located at a bottom dead center, and a lower region that is a region from the upper surface position of the ring groove of the piston ring at the uppermost position when the piston is located at the bottom dead center on the inner wall surface to a lower end of the inner wall surface. Surface roughness of the stroke central region is made larger than those of the upper region and the lower region.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
