The interlocking mechanism for a clutch and a brake device comprises the brake device 38, the tension clutch 24 having a rod 34 coupled to a tension arm 30 to turn, when moved, the tension arm 30 in a direction to cause a tension pulley 26 to press a belt 18, a roller 50 rotatably mounted on a brake arm 46 of the brake device 38, and an inclined plate 52 mounted on the rod 34 and provided with an inclined face 52a adapted to abut the roller 50 with movement of the rod 34 so as to gradually turn the brake arm 46 in a direction to separate a brake pad 42 from a pulley 14.
