Abstract:
To provide a thermal insulation material having low thermal conductivity using amorphous silicon, a manufacturing method therefor, and an internal combustion engine using the same.SOLUTION: A thermal insulation material containing amorphous silicon having a bismuth crystal particle dispersed in the amorphous silicon, average particle diameter of the bismuth crystal particle calculated from a half value width of a peak at 2θ=27±2° in a powder X ray diffraction pattern using CuKα ray as a radiation source in a range of 2 nm to 15 nm, and volume ratio of the amorphous silicon based on the bismuth crystal particle in a range of 0.5 to 2.0.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
