PURPOSE: To provide an induction heating furnace for grain oriented magnetic steel slab, in which oxygen concn. in a furnace can be reduced in short time and the slab can uniformly be heated by the induction.
CONSTITUTION: The induction heating furnace 1 has a liftable furnace hearth 11 supporting flank of the slab S from a lower side so that upper and lower faces of the slab S has a perpendicular posture in the furnace and is provided with an inert gas supplying hole 6 on furnace wall 4. A flow straightening plate 14 for narrowing interval between the furnace wall face and the furnace hearth 11, is provided around the furnace hearth 11, and the inert gas supplying hole 6 is opened between the flow straightening plate 14 and the furnace bottom face at the time when the furnace hearth 11 rises to a slab heating position, and gas exhaust hole 5 is provided on the upper part of the furnace. The inert gas blown in the furnace always flows to the fixed direction from the lower part to the upper part in the furnace along the furnace wall 4 without being directly into contact with surface of the slab S, and after intruding into the upper part of furnace, this gas is exhausted to the outside of the furnace from a gas exhaust hole 5. Further, the oxygen intruding into the furnace at the time of charging and extracting the slab is guided from the upper part to the lower part, as well without being disturbed with turbulent flow and exhausted to the outside of the furnace from the gas exhausting hole 5.
