To provide an image recording method which enables an exposure operation by usable channels of a light source even when a quantity of light decrease or emission impossibility is brought about in the light source with a plurality of channels, and to provide an image recording device.

According to the image recording method, at the time when image recording is carried out by exposing while scanning to a photosensitive material, light from the light source with the plurality of channels for emitting light of a plurality of colors of different wavelengths, it is monitored whether or not a quantity of light becomes not larger than a predetermined quantity of light by detecting the quantity of light of the light source for each channel. When it is detected that the quantity of light of the light source becomes not larger than the predetermined quantity of light and an abnormality is given rise to the channels, the exposure is carried out by changing a vertical scanning speed according to the number of usable channels of the light source. The exposure operation is thus enabled and the exposure can be continued.
