Abstract:
Monolithic or laminated transparencies with a coating positioned on or over the transparency or within the laminate of transparencies having an edge sealant to protect the coating from corrosion by the environment. The composition for the edge sealant is applied on the peripheral lateral sides of the transparency and optionally along the peripheral marginal sides of at least one major surface of the transparency to function as a primer for adhesive attachment to a frame. The edge sealant seals the edge of the transparency with the coating to prevent coating degradation is from a composition selected from automotive clear coat coating compositions and/or organosilanes, and/or organotitanates and/or organozirconium compounds and/or adhesive primers.
