To provide an Fe-Ni based high strength, low thermal expansion alloy thin sheet which has excellent impact resistance in the loading-unloading, carrying or the like of a shadow mask and excellent magnetic properties while maintaining low thermal expansibility.
The high strength, low thermal expansion alloy thin sheet has a composition containing 35 to 37% Ni, ≤0.02% C, ≤0.03% Si, ≤0.6% Mn, ≤0.01% P, ≤0.005% S, ≤0.01% N, ≤0.1% Al and ≤0.08% Cr, and further containing 0.05 to 1% Nb and 0.01 to 1% V in the range of Nb+V≤1.0%, and has a mean thermal expansion coefficient of ≤1.2×10-6/°C in 20 to 100°C, and has excellent strength and magnetic properties. It is also possible that the thin sheet further contains ≤0.003% B and ≤0.010% Sb in the range of 2B+Sb: 0.001 to 0.010%, or, 0.2% proof stress after softening prior to pressing is 270 to 320 MPa, and the maximum permeability is ≥8,000.
