To provide a headup display displaying a virtual image with high brightness.
This headup display 11 displays a virtual image V with a display light L emitted from a liquid crystal display 15 provided with a liquid crystal display panel 18 and a light emitting element 22 for transparently illuminating the liquid crystal display panel 18. The liquid crystal display 15 is provided with a lens group 23 for vertically and laterally converging illumination light emitted from the light emitting element 22. The vertical convergence of the lens group 23 is different from a lateral convergence. The lens group 23 has a condenser lens 21 for condensing the illumination light emitted from the light emitting element 22, and an optical member 20 for vertically and laterally spreading the illumination light condensed by the condenser lens 21. The optical member 20 has the first lens part 20a for vertically spreading the illumination light, and the second lens parts 20b, 20c for laterally spreading the illumination light.
