Abstract:
PURPOSE:To automatically continue grinding operation by providing a solenoid valve for communicating a pump and a coolant supply nozzle only when grinding resistance detected by a detector is higher than given value in a coolant path and immediately cooling heated abrasive grains and automatically lowering grinding resistance. CONSTITUTION:When grinding resistance increases, the voltage of the electric currency sent from the drive circuit 13 of a grinding resistance detector 16 to an electric motor 2 for a rotary grinding wheel for keeping the given revolution of the rotary grinding wheel 1 constant increase, sending this voltage value signal to a voltage comparator 15. Comparing the given voltage value signal with an input voltage value, grinding resistance is detected from the difference. When this grinding resistance becomes higher than given value, a solenoid valve 12 is turned ON by the signal from this comparator 15 to supply coolant from a nozzle 11 to a grinding position by the operation of a pump 5 for immediately cooling the heated abrasive grains of the grinding wheel 1 resulting in the formation of many fine cracks on the surface section of the rotary grinding wheel 1. By forming a new cutting edge with abrasive grains, grinding resistance is lowered.
