To obtain a composite material excellent in compressive rupture strength by winding a metallic thin wire and a glass thin wire for enamel in a specific ratio on a core material to laminate, taking out the core material from the resultant laminated body, heating to a specific temp. to fuse the glass thin wire and the metallic thin wire to combine and cooling.
The preferably 10-100 μ, particularly 20-40 μ diameter glass thin wire 2 for enamel and the preferably 50-2000 μ, particularly 100-200 μdiameter metallic thin wire of an iron thin wire and/or a stainless thin wire are wound in a ratio (glass thin wire): (metallic thin wire) by weight of preferably 2:8 to 7:3 particularly (4:6) to (6:4) on the core material 3 to laminate into a prescribed dimension and shape, the resultant laminated body 5, from which the core material 3 is taken out, is heated to 750-1000°C to fuse the glass thin wire and the metallic thin wire to be combined and cooled.
