Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a small and light transfer device to a four wheel drive wherein an engine is placed transversely and a transmission is connected in series by a clutch on one side of the width direction of the engine.
CONSTITUTION: A four wheel drive power transmission comprises a first ring gear 13 provided in a differential case 12 for a differential device 11 for first axels 19, 20 to receive outputs from a transmission, a transfer shaft 26 provided in parallel with the first axels 19, 20 to transmit drive power to the second axels 39, 40 side, and a second ring gear 23 provided on the first axels 19, 20 to transmit drive power to the transfer shaft 26. The second ring gear 23 is located more internally in the car body than the first ring gear 13 and closer to the transmission 5 than the protruding part 4b of a clutch housing 4 in such a manner that a bearing 25b is provided between itself and the first ring gear 13.
