PURPOSE: To prevent the shape collapsion of a base metal in the stage of forming a composite reinforcing layer mixed with a metal and ceramic fibers on the base metal by incorporating metallic powder having the high-frequency induction heating rate higher than the high-frequency induction heating speed of the base metal into said fibers.
CONSTITUTION: The base metal is molded to a prescribed shape and is contained in a prescribed non-dielectric container. The ceramic fibers are brought into contact with the surface thereof to be reinforced. The metallic powder having the high-frequency induction heating rate higher than the high-frequency induction heating rate of the base metal is preliminarily incorporated into the ceramic fibers at 5W30%, more preferably 10W20% volumetric ratio to increase the heating up speed of the base material surface in the stage of heating. The surface of the base metal attains the m.p. earlier than the inside when the composite reinforcing layer incorporated therein with the ceramic fibers is formed on the surface of the base metal by the high-frequency induction heating and therefore the composite reinforcing layer is formed without spoiling the shape of the base metal.
