To provide an inexpensive fluid bearing device for a motor, having a rotary shaft and a thrust pad having proper abrasion resistance.
This fluid bearing device has the rotary shaft 1, and a sleeve 2 for rotatably supporting this rotary shaft, forms a herringbone groove 2b continuing in the shaft direction on the outer periphery of this rotary shaft or the inner wall of the sleeve, and has the thrust pad 3 for sealing lubricating oil 4, by being fixedly arranged under the sleeve 2 for restricting the shaft directional movement of the rotary shaft 1. The fluid bearing device, such as forming a projecting part 1d having a prescribed shape for contacting with the thrust pad 3, is constituted and executed on the tip of the rotary shaft 1 to realize a fluid bearing device, for example, for a spindle motor for preventing an oil film shortage of the lubricating oil 4 between this projecting part 1d and the thrust pad 3, having an inexpensive structure and superior abrasion resistance.
